Problem with my ex and gaining custody

I am a father of 2 children, jack and sam, me and my ex split about 4 years ago now and up until now it has been fine with the arrangements regarding the kids. I have them pretty much every other weekend and it works for them too and everyone is happy. Now that my ex has a new partner she is talking about gaining full custody of the kids!. I first of all do not think she can do this because she has no reason to not want them to see me. I also wonder about The Right To Be A Parent because i am their father! i should be able to apply for custody too if i wanted. I think she may be planning on taking the kids away and moving house, her new partner is from turkey i believe and i am worried that she may want to take them away there. I do not know if i would be able to prevent this in anyway. I certainly hope i would.
